Matching leagues

October 1st, 2005 by cowgirljules

OK, I retract that “out of my league” comment from yesterday.

Because he is exactly in my league, and I am in his.

Yeah, he asked me out yesterday before he even had a chance to read the note I slipped him in the catalog. He said later in the evening that he’d wanted to for the last two weeks, but was waiting to avoid the whole conflict of interest thing, which was rather considerate of him.

I met him down at their hotel bar, had a drink with all of the boys, and walked right out the door with him in front of them all. He took me to the best restaurant in town, where the food was great and the conversation was even better. It was one of those outstanding dates that you just don’t get that many of in a lifetime.

I told him as we were leaving that the gist of the note was to ask if he wanted to go up to the mountains with me on his next weekend off, and he stopped me right there on the sidewalk and kissed me. Fabulous evening, and I suspect that we’ll be seeing each other as long as he’s in the state (which is at least three more months, and his next job is only a couple of hours away.)

I’m very lucky that I haven’t pissed of the ex lately, as he was willing to keep the kids for an extra night as long as I got them by six this morning. Totally worth it.

And now on to a day of regular kid stuff—the boys have a belt test for karate this morning and we’re going to the Ren Faire tomorrow, but my mind will be dwelling on him. Yeah, that feels good.
