Huh. I googled it themis, and found a bunch of hits for Pig Frogs in the Florida Everglades and one for Leopard Frogs in Georgia, but there doesn't seem to be much of an alarm on the west coast. Any restrictions would probably something like fish, limiting them to once a week for pregnant women or the like. We don't eat them that often, and what we do eat are lake fish, which seem to have fewer restrictions than ocean fish. Still, you've got me looking at the EPA site - four of us are kids.

Thanks

I forget where I read this, but it was just this morning or yesterday sometime -- there's actually a mercury alert out on frogs. So don't eat too many at once! Maybe it doesn't apply to your area; it's worth looking into.

When we went on an airboat tour in the swamps of Louisiana we say lots of little frog eyes shining back at us. The guide talked about gigging, and told us the different between frog eyes, spider eyes, and alligator eyes when you're spotting.

Unfortunately, I've forgotten what the difference is now, so if I were to go gigging down here I'd probably end up with a very pissed off alligator on my spear.

This has got to be one of the funniest things I've read about recently-- I can just picture the giggling!

I think you should make this a required activity if you have any city-raised friends who come to visit you.
